Phoenix rising reborn from the flames of its death (just as the Operation Gladio sponsors and members of the junta were supposed to rise from the ashes of a feared Soviet invasion and fight against the communists). Silhouette of a soldier, the rifle has a fixed bayonet. In Greek, the words 'Greece' (Ελλας) in black, and '21 April 1967', the date of the coup d'état, in white.
Leaflets featuring this image were published during the period of the Greek military dictatorship and were distributed widely; the image was not copyrighted.
