Note: This is not yet policies of Anarchopedia (even though below it will say that they are). They might become policies after discussed on Ideas for the 4th General Meeting and Transparency.

What is listed here are policies of Anarchopedia, if you are new here you might want to read Anarchopedia:What it is and Anarchopedia:What it is not to give you an idea of the project as the whole. It should be noted that this is a page outlining the policies for the Anarchopedia project as the whole, further policies may have been agreed to by the specific language Anarchopedia that you may edit.

Decision making

The decisions are only final when there is a consensus opinion on the issue.

There are two exceptions to that rule:

  1. Exclusion of anti-social elements, vandals and spammers will not have a voice in the decision making. If the person is honestly interested in the project to engage with the collective, then it is clear that the person is not a vandal, so this exception cannot be used to exclude people that the long-time editors disagree with.
  2. Exclusion of a person or a group well versed in the bureaucratic language, who can be shown to have intentions of destroying the project through the edits. An example of that can be somebody who attempts to hijack Anarchopedia, forcing it to perform a function within another movement or organisation, who can quote the rules very well and manages to manipulate people.

Power structure

Every editor is empowered, after making some coherent and checked edits. You will most probably be made SysOp after it is seen that you contribute useful and correct information to Anarchopedia. You can request to become a SysOp by following the 'How to complain' guidelines. It should be noted that while SysOps do have more technical abilities, they do not hold more weight during the resolution of conflicts.

Who can contribute

Everybody is welcome to contribute the content to Anarchopedia, regardless of their views, but the edits must be in accordance to the agreed APOV.

Who cannot contribute

  • Spammers of unrelated information and vandals trying to damage the pages will be banned without warning.
    • Anarchopedia bans some IP addresses which were banned on MediaWiki to protect itself from the spam floods.
  • If the vandalism came from lack of understanding of the policies a temporary ban may be executed, it should not be long and you should be explained why such temporary ban took place.
    • Normally this would mean that you have not bothered to understand what this project is all about, and it is suggested that you re-read these policies and Anarchopedia:What it is and Anarchopedia:What it is not; this doesn't mean that you cannot contribute, but that you are violating the ideas behind this project.

How to complain

Fastest way to complain is to join IRC chat on irc://irc.indymedia.org/anarchopedia and explain what the problem is. It is good to stay calm during any conflict resolution. IRC resolutions are unofficial because it is possible that people who would be interested in commenting are not online at the moment, so do not feel angered by a request to make the complaint official if the issue is important.

The official conflict resolution space is Anarchopedia:Conflicts, please state your problem as fully as possible and stay calm. You should be aware that your local language Anarchopedia can also have a resolution space, however, you can chose to bring the resolution to the global Anarchopedia level if you feel it is an important issue. Should you bring the problem with the single language Anarchopedia to the global level, you need to provide a mention of that on the local resolution space.

The rules are created and changed via general meeting, you can propose your change on Ideas for the 4th General Meeting.
