How is this supposed to work?  I think that the driving force of the revolution will be a sort of social hedonism.  The Internet will ideally make possible instantaneous and cost-less communication between any two persons on the world.  The side effect of this is that people become aware of each-other's problems much more deeply, so the level of solidarity will naturally increase.  It is impossible to enjoy life fully when you are aware that that somebody else is oppressed or in poverty.

years of war and hardship are entering this century...
through it, we'll live together, to show the world a new way

beliefs, thoughts, etc...

I am a believer of radical inclusiveness: I think that the social environment is the root cause of most antisocial behaviour, and that anarchic and loving environments, when coupled with free and extensive education will naturally lead to better and more successful societies (less power abuses, advancements in technology and culture available to all).

To make this possible we have to leave behind such antiquate concepts as social classes, mere-competion based economy and sectarian or specialistic education. We should try to include everyone and everyone's culture.

a revolutionary ontology

I have chosen to use this little space on my user page to expound my ontology for bringing about a peaceful, anarchic revolution of society. This is a materialistic ontology, in that it relies only on direct experience and rational thought, but can be expanded with meta-physical or spiritual aspects. I have tried to make the definitions as simple to understand as possible, but, like every ontology, it has some degree on arbitrariness. This is intended mostly as an interpretative tool, so if you disagree with some definition you can modify it to suit your perspective.

Anarchy: the ideal society in which individual freedom and dignity is maximized, by maintaining an equal distribution of responsibility and power. It will be based on a new social contract

Awareness or Consciousness: is the result of the memory of one's past actions and of their effects (Note: this is a very simplified definition, but useful in the context of the ontology; non-metaphysical definitions for consciousness are quite new in philosophy, but I can assure that I have good reasons to give this definition).

Collective consciousness or shared consciousness: is the result of the memory of society's action in the past and of their effects (history)

Empathy: is the ability to communicate pre-rationally. No shared consciousness, no revolution is possible without mutual empathy. There are many potential barriers to empathy (language, nationality, prejudice)

Individual: is any actual or potential member of society. Every individual that agrees with the new social contract can partecipate to anarchy, regardless of gender/beliefs/age/origins etc.

Intelligence: is the ability to solve problems. It is activated and stimulated by motivation and made possible by consciousness

Collective intelligence: is the ability of a society to solve problems external or internal to it

Motivation: the motivators of human actions are material gain (the satisfaction of a physical need), social gain (the satisfaction of others's expectations), spiritual gain (the satisfaction of one's own beliefs)

New social contract: is the social contract for every citizen on Earth, once anarchy is established. The primitive social contract was a pact of mutual non-aggression, the new social contract is a pact of mutual protection and mutual responsibility

Revolution: is a radical, large-scale change in society. All major revolutions have been associated with technological advances

Socialism: is the mode of society in which commodities are produced and exchanged according to people's needs, abolishing the scarcity of capitalism. Socialism is made possible not by the enforcement of a State, but by the collective, conscious effort of the community

It is impossible to enjoy life fully when you are aware that somebody else is oppressed or in poverty.

things I am working on

  • A client for a peer to peer wiki and file sharing network, to be operated via a distributed datastore and distributed hash table. This is quite a new concept, but I think this will be a better medium for anarchists and freedom conscious people than central server networks (the only type of Wiki available at the moment). The project is now named WikiShare and is hosted at SourceForge: http://wikishare.sf.net. Development is still at early prototyping phase (no end-user applications yet). Preliminary documentation of the protocol and a working and useable prototype should be available in a few months.
  • Recovering information from popular but now apparently dead wiki, infoAnarchy. I have a database of rescued articles, so contact me if you want to help to select ones to reinsert into Anarchopedia. Update: it appears that infoAnarchy is now being revived.
  • "freebay": a "distributed system for cashless and gift economy". I am starting to develop a design specification for it.
  • an interactive, immersive, application for learning Esperanto. The application will ask the student to associate pictures with spoken or written phrases. It should be possible to implement this on Anarchopedia (Mediawiki) by adding customizable (per-page) javascript support. See also Template:javascript.

contact information

I can be contacted privately on IRC network irc.indymedia.org. I try to be online as often as possible and join channel #anarchopedia. Actually I don't have much time to chat, but I try to be present at least a few hours a day.
