<Cloffy> simply pointing to knowledge the person already has?
<mick> yeah
<Cloffy> that's not teaching, that's educating ;)
<mick> but u never transfer straightly
<Cloffy> you should just ask
<mick> sometimes u must not even try
<Cloffy> and help with answers if asked
<mick> then someone can make a truth like religion
<mick> and fall in falses again
<Cloffy> well, that's if you separate the answer from the question
<Cloffy> 5 is ok, 2+2 is ok, but 2+2=5 is not ok
<Cloffy> and the establishment just says "5!"
<Cloffy> and people say "2+2" and think it fits
<Cloffy> because they never put it together
<mick> yeap
<mick> somehow like this
<Cloffy> but using the socratic approach, anamnesia (sp?), you pose the question and the person has to answer, bearing the question in mind
<Cloffy> thus putting it together
<Cloffy> and that is actually somewhat how I usually operate - I tend to provoke people so that they will have to answer with what they think is right - and therefore they have to think over their own views
<Cloffy> thus I don't care all that much about facts when I talk to people - which may be unhealthy - but instead I provoke on general exagerrations or examples that makes the person direct their thoughts into a more healthy direction
<Cloffy> like saying: we didn't have this many surveilance cameras 5 years ago. Would you like them to have one in your bedroom?
<Cloffy> it's an exageration, but they have to think - what the tendency is
<Cloffy> where it's going
<Cloffy> although most of the time people just answer: "oh, stop being stupid, they are never gonna do that!"
<Cloffy> oh, yes they are :-/ if they are allowed to
<Cloffy> I had an argument last night with a guy here
<Cloffy> who said you should always check all the facts
<Cloffy> but I think there is no time for that
<Cloffy> well, I'm grateful to people like Noam Chomsky who actually spend a lot of time doing just that
<Cloffy> but I just go by the feeling, seeing where things are tending to go
<Cloffy> that is a lot rougher approach, but right now we're dealing with a rough situation
<Cloffy> yeah, the guy actually got me depressed yesterday :-/
<Cloffy> he was being so negative, so arrogant about his Logics
<Cloffy> that is what facts do to people
<Cloffy> they dry them out
<Cloffy> there is no room for dreams, for ideals anymore
<Cloffy> sinking into precise facts and becoming a freak about it just separates you into something that doesn't matter that much and you lose your goals, your direction just for the sake of "precision"
<Cloffy> although I would encourage anyone to "do their homework"
<Cloffy> it's just that I got really upset about this last night :p
<Cloffy> made me depressed for the whole night/day
<Cloffy> because there is no juice, no life in the facts
<Cloffy> they are just a dry skin to be filled with the spirit of hope and interpretation
<Cloffy> and besides the intuition that develops through sincere faith and hope combined with good reason is amazing
<Cloffy> I go without facts a lot of time but I know what exactly is going to happen
<Cloffy> you can *see* things, you don't need to *measure* them
<Cloffy> no time running around with rulers and notebooks
<Cloffy> if it's plain to see anyway
<Cloffy> When I try and fight the neverending army of facts I fall into desperation and helplesness, but when I go with faith/love/hope combined with the shield of understanding, I am unstoppable
<Cloffy> I bet Jesus didn't go to the public debates to study the political facts
<Cloffy> :p
<Cloffy> and I consider Jesus the ultimate anarchist :)
<Cloffy> and the Church - the ultimate (A) sign salesman :D
<Cloffy> instead of crosses Christ followers should be carrying shrapnels from anarchist struggles and bullets from police guns
<Cloffy> never to give up your ideals - even at the price of your bodily death
<Cloffy> and no facts are gonna give you that conviction, that faith, that Love
<Cloffy> and what people need is not *facts*, people need faith
<Cloffy> the belief in the Good
<Cloffy> Love
<Cloffy> faith in one another
<Cloffy> a hope for a better future
<Cloffy> an example of inner strength
<Cloffy> they don't need money
<Cloffy> they don't need thick books with political analysis
<Cloffy> they need faith
<Cloffy> Only Truth will set you Free
<Cloffy> and Truth has nothing to do with external "facts"
<Cloffy> the Truth is having faith in oneself
<Cloffy> in freedom
<Cloffy> in love
<Cloffy> in the good
<Cloffy> the Truth is knowing what is Good and what is Evil
<Cloffy> not knowing how much money this or that costs
<Cloffy> or what year it was when Gandhi or Hitler signed a bill
<Cloffy> The true Revolution, the true struggle is within
<Cloffy> to find out - what is Good
<Cloffy> and to stand upon it
<Cloffy> whatever the price
<Cloffy> that is faith
<Cloffy> that is the Truth
<Cloffy> that is Freedom
<Cloffy> and people need to know that
<Cloffy> They do. But they have forgotten.
<Cloffy> underneath the state propaganda, behind the consumer golden cutains - it's there
<Cloffy> waiting for it's turn to shine
<Cloffy> and we need to open up the curtains
<Cloffy> to help it shine through
<Cloffy> for people to recognize it within themselves
<Cloffy> the Love
<Cloffy> the Truth
<Cloffy> the Freedom
<Cloffy> and that is pretty much what I try to do
<Cloffy> for my own sanity and the sanity of my human family
<Cloffy> we're all in it together
<Cloffy> ok, I'll go brush my teeth now :)
<Cloffy> I bet this all never reached the channel :-/
