Dividing Anarchopedia into separate (language) projects
- Write here about what should we do and move it in "What is done" if it is done.
What should we do
- To open MediaWiki engines for current languages: German, Spanish, Esperanto, French, Interlingua, Interlingue, Italian, West Balkan (Serbian, Croatian, Bosnian/Bosniak). (For administrators: Coordination for that question is at the page Anarchopedia:en:administration#Dividing Anarchopedia into language projects.)
- To move manually pages from www to language projects.
- To dedicate www to interlingual coordination and other "meta" question (such as Meta is at Wikipedia). I (Millosh)think we should not say that www and en are the same project (if someone don't think that, we should vote).
- www.anarchopedia.org could redirect to meta.anarchopedia.org which would link to the languages by way of explanation, and would also explain in a line that no one needs any "dubyas". ;-) It is a bad idea in general to use the "www." because that just encourages people to say "dubya" in connection with something they think is useful, and this alone may have got Bush elected.
- OK. But, www is the last one for changes... --Milos Rancic 22:50, 25 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Anarchopedia defaults
Just to make some defaults for all of Anarchopedias:
- Case sensitivity. --Millosh 20:17, 8 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- make automatic redirects of Case sensitivity to case sensitive so that the first-letter sensitivity is irrelevant -
- while you're at it enable double redirects - why not?
- There is a strong argument though to keep exactly the same rules as Wikipedia since they match the English rules - it is easy to link to things inside a sentence like case sensitivity which helps you avoid anchor text. Case sensitivity, though, also goes to the same place automatically without risk of double-redirect and again without anchor text.
- Wiki redirects are OK. We'll find some automatic way to do so. --Milos Rancic 22:50, 25 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- All users have sysop permissions (or not?). --Millosh 20:17, 8 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- no, they'll just block IP on each other and make a mess - best if multiple users can vote on whether an IP is doing vandalism, e.g. spam and if no one disagrees in 24 hours the IP is blocked. It's rare to get such heavy spam in such a short time that it can't be manually undone, and it's very rare for a spammer or vandal to figure out how to keep himself from being blocked. Option: Immediately block IP of anyone who tries to characterize a troll (someone they disagree with) as being a vandal or spammer.
- Or we can just unblock anyone who is not a vandal or spammer. A sysop power structure is by definition an oligarchy.
- We should think about possibilities... Delete/undelete for all users? Or just undelete? Also, we have intuitive rules for developer status ("just to see some of your previous work"), but I think that we need to have some more exact rules for developer status. Maybe voting? Maybe voting+technical competency+something? There is also the question of shell accounts: I can't give it to anyone because server is not dedicated (only) to Anarchopedia, but, I hope that some day we would have server(s) dedicated to Anarchopedia. What then? Domain control? --Milos Rancic 22:50, 25 Nov 2004 (UTC)

- Black star as icon. --Millosh 21:14, 8 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- upside down maybe? (double point up, as usually in pentagrams) or pointing left? i.e. the single point left and the double point right; or maybe a big red A scrawled on top of it
- :) In this moment I made black star, but it is not closed question. Should we vote about that? Or to leave that question for the future? --Milos Rancic 22:50, 25 Nov 2004 (UTC)

- Internal interwiki --Millosh 01:55, 9 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- try to obey interwiki link standard to set precedent for the GFDL corpus
- "en:" is enough for link to English Anarchopedia. --Milos Rancic 22:50, 25 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Open questions about multilingualism and it's implementation at Anarchopedia
Put your question here.
Should we use three-letter language code instead of two-letter code; i.e. 'eng' instead of 'en'. Some languages doesn't have two letter code (only 26^2 languages can have two letter code, but not all combinations are good enough; i.e.: 'xx' or 'ww'). So, I think it would be fair to use three letter codes.(We should use aliases.) --Millosh 22:51, 8 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- use three just to be flexible, save two for countries (as if we care about those!), but make a hard redirect of "en:" to "eng:"
- In this moment "en.anarchopedia.org" is just an alias for "eng.anarchopedia.org". Interwiki links point to "eng.anarchopedia.org". I don't think (am I wrong?) that we need ModRewrite redirects (such as meta.wikiPedia -> meta.wikiMedia)... --Milos Rancic 22:50, 25 Nov 2004 (UTC)

- Test Anarchopedia takes a lot of CPU. It seems that problem is in MediaWiki configuration. I need help to solve that problem. --Milos Rancic 06:59, 19 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- CPU hogging seems to be a specific MediaWiki problem - see [1]. Wikipedia.org has a very complex infrastructure (load balancers, caching proxies, and other stuff like that), so there's simply no incentive for MediaWiki's developers (who are involved with Wikimedia) to solve its performance problems. Accordingly it may be good to consider alternate wiki-implementations just to have a hedge against the sysop power structure controlling MediaWiki code.
- Also against their stupidity - they often prioritize features useful only/mostly for sysop vandalism. And refuse to put useful features in like the whole-mirror feature of GetWiki that lets anyone be a complete GFDL corpus access provider. That is what they fear most.
- The only problem with GetWiki is that it is not software released under GPL or GPL compatible license and MediaWiki is. I think that the best way is to make/find some other GPL (or other kind of free software license) wiki. I am ready to work on such project. ... I asked Proteus is it possible to make double licensing for GetWiki (such as Qt) so we can use GPL'd GetWiki. --Milos Rancic 12:42, 25 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- I got an answer. Proteus says that CCL is the same as GPL for non-commercial use and I prefer to use free software. (It is clear that he doesn't want to make double licensing.) However, it is only my thought. As Anarchopedia is not commercial project and it doesn't intend to be commercial, I don't see big problem here. Another possible problem can be slow development of GetWiki... In general, if someone wants GetWiki, let (s)he makes the page for voting. (I'll vote for MediaWiki or to find/make GPL'd software :) ) One more option is to leave to people from language projects to make decision about what software they want to use for their language. Or to make projects like "eng-m" for MediaWiki and "eng-g" for GetWiki? :) --Milos Rancic 22:50, 25 Nov 2004 (UTC)
